This weekend I geeked out improving the user-friendliness and appearance of the website. The good news: I think the new design is much better, and it is live today!
On the old site, we were losing a lot of space due to the margins and I didn’t love the navigation. On the new site, you can easily scroll through the homepage and get a taste of many images from several posts. The left column are the most recent posts, and the center column is an assortment from the archives.
Clicking an image or the “Read more” button takes you to the full post for that image. Once you’re there, the new site makes it easier to navigate with little tick marks/arrows on the right and left to go to previous and next post — the arrows even move down the page with you as you scroll down! You can return to the home page by clicking “Home” or “Nosara Daily Photo” at the top, or navigate by browsing through recent posts, archives, and other links on the site.
A few more additions and tweaks are still needed, and I would love to hear your feedback. Is the site loading quickly enough? What do you think of the current design?
So that’s the good news. The bad news? I spent the weekend on site design rather than photos! I’ve got my work cut out for me this week…
